Cardiff Design Festival set to celebrate the best of Welsh design in 2010
Since 2005 the Cardiff Design Festival has been running to celebrate, provoke, inform and inspire with design.
At venues across the city a whole spectrum of different events will take place including talks, workshops and exhibitions.
Olwen Moseley, director of the Festival, at a pre-launch event at Chapter Arts Centre on Monday 17th May, called for more people to get involved.
She said: “One of the things that makes for a successful festival is when it’s a community event. We want the design community to run events, come up with ideas and get people involved.”
Final group presentations
Last night I attended a workshop in the Old NatWest Bank on Bute Street to discuss the functions and facilities of a Digital Media Centre planned for Roath Basin. A few friendly faces attended in the form of Neil Cocker, Julian Sykes, Laura Thomas, Mark Johnson and Tom Beardshaw, along with many others from sides of the sector that I have no clue about. We all came together to take part in the one off workshop, pouring ideas needs and wants for the centre onto sheets of Flipchart strewn across the floor.
