Room to Read event, 1st of May
Following the success of our last event on the 1st of May, we invite you to take part in a public reading event on Saturday June the 12th at 12 to 12.30pm, outside the Central Library in Cardiff city centre. We use our love of stories and reading to question the purpose of public spaces. To see if we can claim these places as 'ours' and not just as an area we pass through to go somewhere else, bring a story, poem or piece of writing that you think is great, find yourself one of the black blocks to sit or stand on and at midday read it out loud.
The Arcade Project
Perhaps you have noticed how many empty shops there are in Cardiff city centre at the moment? We have.
The first Arcade Project will take place in an empty shop in Castle Arcade, Cardiff on the 2nd and 3rd of July. We are looking for people to contribute their ideas, skills and knowledge to help make this project happen. We would love you to get involved.
Poetry on Tap is Cardiff’s freshest monthly poetry and spoken word series
Poets MIKE JENKINS and THAER AL-SHAYEI perform their latest work at the Poetry on Tap reading series, now in its new home, the Old Orleans, 19 Church St (off High St), on Sunday, 16 May, 2pm.
MIKE JENKINS's book Wanting to Belong was adapted for BBC Wales as a drama and for Channel 4 as a programme for schools. An award-winning writer, many of his stories have been broadcast on Radio Wales and Radio 4. His poetry collection Moor Music is forthcoming from Seren in October.
Love Reading
A love of stories and reading meets questions about our use of public spaces. To see if we can claim these places as 'ours' and not just as an area we pass through to go somewhere else, we invite you to attend a public reading event on Saturday May 1st at 12pm, outside the Central Library in Cardiff city centre. Bring a story, poem or piece of writing that you think is great, find yourself one of the black blocks to sit or stand on and at midday read it out loud.

Pecha Kucha takes place at Chapter Arts Centre Thu 25 March from 6pm.
Devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event that encouraged young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. Since then it has turned into a massive celebration, with events in hundreds of cities around the world. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of 'chit chat', Pecha Kucha's format allows selected speakers to share their knowledge through 20 images each shown for 20 seconds.
